Two Birthday Parties, A Funeral, a Trip to the E.R. & an ELVIS Sighting
To say this weekend was eventful would be an understatement.   We attended my sister-in-laws mother's funeral on Saturday which was a lovely celebration of her life.  I was moved to hear her husband reminisce about how they met, fell in love, and spent the formative years of their marriage.  After the funeral we spent some time with my parents at their house.  All day I was consumed with a variety of emotions - what if it was MY Mom or Dad?  I know all too well that I am very emotionally dependent on my parents and that their passing will leave me incapacitated.

Sunday began with a nice church service followed by a week's worth of laundry and two birthday parties.  Party #1= our niece, Haley's, 17th birthday party.  From there we left & went to our new pastor, Rev. Kevin Gilmore's 40th birthday party.  His wife, Natalie, really outdid herelf with Hawaiian decor and yummy shish-ka-bobs.  The highlight of the party was when I saw ELVIS!  Natalie hired an Elvis impersonator to perform for Kevin, who like me, is a HUGE Elvis fan. He did a pretty good job considering no one will ever be as good as Elvis ;)  One thought did consume me - when you are an Elvis impersonator - you are Elvis everywhere you go - the grocery store, Walmart, etc - the sideburns never go away - somewhat Scary!

Billy had started to feel bad at the party & his leg was really throbbing.  Let me back up - he fell out of a tree last week.  To explain would be an entire blog post, just suffice it to say it was related to deer hunting preparations.  He didn't tell me on Wednesday when it happened, but the next day he finally shared with me that he had fallen.  Did I mention his leg looked like I beat him with a baseball bat?  Did he call his transplant coordinator to be seen?  Of course not!  He decided to tough it out, but by Sunday night it had gotten progressively worse & was very swollen.  What concerned us what that it was swollen twice the size of his other leg and when he laid down the pain got worse.  I feared he might have a blood clot, so at 2am we packed up Kaitlin & headed to the E.R. after dropping her at my parents.  We arrived at the E.R. at 3am and they did a chest x-ray, bloodwork, and did an ultrasound of his leg. Good news -  they did not find a blood clot, bad news - his kidney levels were elevated & they were concerned.  He will go back to St Lukes on Thursday for more tests.

Never a dull moment for the Christopher Clan!
