Pom Poms and Glitter Hairspray

Saturday was our end of the season party for cheerleading. We celebrated with our football team at Horseshoe Junction with pizza, go-carts, lazer tag, & TROPHIES!!! I have mixed emotions about the season ending. On one hand I will welcome 3 more free days in my week without the Tues/Thurs practices and the Saturday am games. On the other hand, I will miss seeing Kaitlin and her friends donned head to toe in maroon & white, with silver glitter hairspray, and bulldog paw prints on their faces. I will no longer chant cheers in my head while shaving my legs or driving to school. I will no longer beg Kaitlin to do herkeys on the sideline. I will no longer chuckle as I see our pee wee team running the ball the wrong direction, but most of all I will miss the nostalgia that I feel for pee wee football.

Pee Wee football brings back memories of a special time in my life when I didn't have a worry in the world. When Dad was football coach, my brother played, I cheered, and my mom was the Cheer Coach. Yes, the Welborn Clan were donned in Lamkin Ram's green & white every Saturday morning growing up. We never got to watch cartoons (which only aired on Sat. am back then) but we didn't mind, it was what we did and we loved it!

  1. Yes that does bring back so many wonderful memories. In a way it seems like yesterday. But that is one of the joys of grandkids. You can relive those great times. I've been able to watch Zach play football from his peewee days thru high school and now I'm getting to watch Kaitlin cheer on the sidelines. And what makes it even better is that I don't have to try to get the grass stains out of the uniforms or get the ponytail just right or hunt furiously for a lost sneaker when we only have 10 minutes to get to the game. I just get to go to the games and enjoy!! Love you.
